In the paradigm of Existentialism, what really prevents one from just choosing to end the suffering of a pointless existance?
Angst and ennui are too much. The arrogance and immorallity of this culture (WhiteDominated/Capitalistic/Patriarchal) is intolerable. TV and clubs suck. Drugs and Alchohol are no thrill.
Now what?

Re: Life Weary.
Sun, July 18, 2004 - 8:21 AMOne of the things that keeps me around (besides laziness and an instinctive resistence to suicide), is to see all the crazy shit that is inevitably going to happen in my lifetime.
Bipedal robots, nanotechnology, cloning, alternative fuel sources, planetary exploration, cultural revolutions (one of which is the internet), ad busting, culture jamming, phenomenology, new art movements (la la!).
The trip might be long tedious and pointless, but the view is sometimes nice (although sometimes revolting). If nothing else, do something amusing with your lives so the rest of us can be amused.
It's fun to lose and to pretend. -

Wed, July 21, 2004 - 7:05 PMnah...fuckin scrath that ...not in the time frame of Existentialist writing but, George Battaille was closer in Inner Experience, The Theory of Religion, and The Acuursed Share Vol.1...Vol 2 and 3 are a bore. All that stuff...tells me why not to commit suicide but for some reaseon when I am finished with it I want to kill myself. -

Re: Life Weary.

Hey you leave Sartre alone. He's my lover.
Sat, September 11, 2004 - 5:40 PMYou too, eh? Someone needs to put a gps on that man...
As for Waking Life, I found some of the dialogue tedious. That story the poor bartender had to listen to had me looking around the room for something to snort. And the boat taxi guy? Terribly insipid, everything he said. I try to walk away from people who say insipid things to me; please don't make me bear it in a movie.

...and don't be surprised if you find it leading you towards an investigation into Zen. -
