Has anyone read any of the biographies on Camus? Any interesting finds or book suggestions?

There's a new bio. titled, "Camus and Sartre: The Story of a Friendship and the Quarrel That Ended It" by Ronald Aronson. I haven't read it, but I did read "Albert Camus: A Life" by Olivier Todd. It was pretty good.

I have a love-hate affair with Camus. I would never suggest that anyone NOT read his writing, but I find his works to be the most over-read and wrongly interpreted of almost anyone's ... except perhaps Jack Kerouac. I guess my problem is not necessarily with Camus as it is with some of the readers that I've known. Too many of them come away from reading "The Plague" or "The Rebel" with the impression that life is about nothing more than personal freedom and behavioral abandon absent of consequence.

I think that Camus offers a great deal of insight into the absurdity of existence, but at heart, I think the man was somewhat infantile. For a much healthier and balanced examination, I direct people to Simone de Bouvoir.
